A number of medical specialty societies and expert groups have issued guidelines on hereditary cancer testing.  The following resources provide detailed information on these recommendations, and are provided as additional guidance in the appropriate and effective use of our diagnostic tests:


American Gastroenterological Association medical position statement on colorectal cancer screening and surveillance (including recommendations for hereditary colorectal cancer), supported by key physician organizations and endorsed by the American Cancer Society.

American Society of Breast Surgeons official consensus statement on BRCA testing for patients with and without breast cancer.

Society of Gynecologic Oncologists Education Committee Statement on Risk Assessment for Inherited Gynecologic Cancer Predispositions (September 2007) (PDF).
